When is Camp offered?
Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp is offered daily during school breaks on Maui.

Do I have to register for all sessions?
No. You can register by the week or by the day (space available) A space is held when payment is given. Call (808) 249-8811 ext 1.

Who can go to camp? What are the ages?
Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp is open to children grades K-5.

What time is drop off and pick-up?
Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Late pick up is availabe for $5 per day. Parents must register 24 hours in advance and pick up will be by 5:00 pm.

What if I am running late to pick up my child?
There is a late fee of $1 per minute if you pick up your child after 4:00 pm (or after 5:00 pm if pre-arranged for Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp).

What is the cost of camp?
If you pre-register for camp 30 days or more prior, the cost is $67 per day or $56 per day for members. Registration within 30 days is $72 per day or $61 per day for members. Registration fees within 24 hours are $77 per day or $66 per day for members.

What is included in the price?
A whole lot of fun! Camp tuition, field trip fees (Pacific Whale Foundation vessel trip, surf, windsurf, hikes, transportation to field trip sites, etc.), one snack per day.

Do you provide lunch?
Lunch is NOT included and must be provided by parents. There is a local deli located next to Pacific Whale Foundation if parents need to purchase a lunch for their child prior to camp.

What does the camper need to bring each day?
At a minimum, campers need a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, refillable water bottle, lunch, and a booster seat if applicable.

Where is the camp? What is the Classroom like?
Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp is based in the air-conditioned classrooms of the Ocean Science Center next to Maui Ocean Center overlooking Ma'alaea Harbor. Our classrooms are equipped with AV equipment, computer, lab equipment, and our own private restrooms. Additional activities may take place next door at Maui Ocean Center, at Haycraft Beach Park, or at the U.S Coast Guard Station. We travel off-site for surfing, windsurfing, tidepool trips, 'Iao Valley, Baldwin House Museum, Maui Tropical Plantation, Molokini snorkel and beach days.

What do the campers do all day at Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Camp?
Each day is different and campers select from classroom activities to customize their experience. On a typical day, campers go out on a field trip in the morning and return to the classrooms for lunch. Afternoons may be a combination of science lab, arts and crafts activities, or special guest presentations both in and out of the classrooms.

Who teaches the kids? What about safety?
Our counselors are members of the Pacific Whale Foundation education staff. All are over 21 and are college graduates. All of our counselors are CPR/First Aid trained. All water activities are staffed by Lifeguard Certified staff. Our adult to student ratio is 1:10 or better. Additional adult volunteers provide support for off-site field trip excursions. All staff are required to show proof of negative TB status. When we are out of the classroom, we carry parent contact information and first-aid supplies with us.
